How Do You Calculate The Percent Change in Excel: Our Shortcut

To calculate percent change in Excel using the shortcut method, you can use the following formula:

= (New Value - Old Value) / Old Value

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Enter the old value in one cell and the new value in another cell.

  2. In a third cell, enter the above formula, replacing "New Value" with the cell reference of the new value and "Old Value" with the cell reference of the old value.

  3. Press enter to get the result.

  4. Format the cell as a percentage by clicking on the cell, then selecting the "Percentage" option under the "Number Format" dropdown in the "Home" tab.

For example, if the old value is in cell A1 and the new value is in cell B1, the formula would be:

= (B1 - A1) / A1

After pressing enter, you can format the cell as a percentage to get the percent change.
